Secretaria Regional do Turismo, Mobilidade e Infraestruturas
The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, met on Friday with the CEO of TAP Air Portugal, Christine Ourmières-Widener.
The government official stressed that TAP "due to its long history is an important airline for the Azores and has always played a fundamental role in connecting us with the outside world."
During the meeting, various issues related to TAP's operations in the Region were addressed, including the possibility of creating new routes or improving existing ones, the development of new promotional strategies, and the commercial relations with SATA.
"The challenge for TAP is to believe in and seize the opportunities that exist in the Azores. There is room for the creation of a contact point in Ponta Delgada and also the opportunity, together with SATA, to take part in the public service obligations tender to be launched by the National Government of the Republic for flights from Mainland Portugal to Santa Maria, Pico and Faial," said Berta Cabral.
The CEO of TAP demonstrated an interest in boosting and consolidating the Azores' external image by exploring new content, campaigns and markets, while the Regional Secretary emphasised the need to make systematic efforts for the winter months and the low season.
