32 new positive cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed in the Azores in the last 24 hours, with 27 on the island of São Miguel, four on the island of Terceira, and one on the island of Pico, arising from 868 tests carried out  in reference laboratories of the region.
On São Miguel, all the cases correspond to community transmission. By municipalities: two new cases were recorded in Lagoa, 13 in the municipality of Ponta Delgada, three in the municipality of Povoação, and nine in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. 
On Terceira, the cases diagnosed now – three in the municipality of Angra do Heroísmo, and one in the municipality of Praia da Vitória - are result of community transmission.
On Pico, a non-resident traveller tested positive on arrival.
Also in the past 24 hours, 46 recoveries  were recorded, with 28 on São Miguel island , 17 on Terceira island , and one on São Jorge island (See Annex 2 - table for recoveries in the whole archipelago).
As of today, 11 patients are hospitalised in the hospitals of the Azores: eight in Divino Espírito Santo Hospital, in Ponta Delgada, (one in ICU), and three in Santo Espírito Hospital, in Angra do Heroísmo, one of which in ICU.
During the course of epidemiological research, one positive case firstly located in the civil parish of Rabo de Peixe, municipality of Ribeira Grande, on the island of São Miguel, turned out to be residing in the civil parish of Santa Cruz, municipality of Lagoa. This data change is shown in the attached table.
Currently, there are 519 active positive cases the archipelago, with 426 on São Miguel island, 52 on Terceira island, 24 on Faial island,  eight on São Jorge island, five  on Pico island, and four on Santa Maria island.
There are seven active primary local transmission chains: two on the island of Pico, two on the island of São Jorge, two on the island of Santa Maria, and one shared by the islands of Faial and São Jorge. To date, 223 have been extinguished on all islands. There are 1,491 people under active surveillance today.  
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 8,201 positive cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in the Azores, 7,487 people have recovered from the disease, 38 died, 89 left the archipelago and 68 provided evidence of previous cure. To date, 661,530 tests have been carried out for SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease.
From 31 December 2020 to 9 August, 155,446 people in the Azores have been vaccinated with the first dose (67,5 per cent) and 145,691 with complete vaccination (61,6 per cent), within the Regional Vaccination Plan.
