The mySaúde Açores app, a project co-financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) as part of the Digital Hospital initiative,  now includes a new feature that allows users to find the nearest pharmacy on their island or in their municipality at any time and from anywhere.

The announcement was made by the Regional Secretary for Health and Social Security, Mónica Seidi, who emphasised that this feature will bring the Regional Health Service (SRS) closer to citizens, responding to a practical everyday need, especially in emergencies or outside normal hours.

“With this new feature, Azoreans now have updated and reliable information about on-duty pharmacies at their fingertips, ensuring faster and more informed access to medicines and healthcare,” stated Mónica Seidi.

The government official pointed out that the mySaúde Açores app has been continuously evolving, progressively integrating new features that place the user at the heart of the healthcare system. Among the features already available are real-time information on waiting times in emergency departments, based on the Manchester triage priority system, access to referrals for consultations and surgeries, and participation in satisfaction surveys on the care provided.

Currently, the application has more than 40,000 registered users and recently surpassed the one million access mark, demonstrating its widespread use across all islands and growing acceptance by the Azorean population. For Mónica Seidi, these figures confirm the positive impact of digital transformation on health.

The Regional Secretary also added that new features will be available soon, including, among others, integration with Electronic Prescription of Medicines (PEM), strengthening the Regional Government's commitment to digital innovation and continuous improvement of the SRS.
