In the context of regular meetings between the Azorean Government and the European Commission, we announce that the Government has requested an extension until December 31, 2026, for the decision regarding the restructuring of the SATA Group, taking into consideration the market response and the complexity of the process. This extension will ensure the completion of the measures set out in the Restructuring Plan and guarantee the operational and financial stability of the group.

Meanwhile, a formal proposal has been submitted for the acquisition of Azores Airlines, demonstrating the interest of private investors in the Azorean airline and reinforcing confidence in the work carried out as part of its restructuring. The jury is analysing this proposal.

The Regional Government also notes that the process of making the handling area autonomous is in its final stages, with the creation of a new company, SATA Handling. This will pave the way for the sale of this business unit, as provided for in the approved Restructuring Plan.

These developments are decisive steps forward in fulfilling the Regional Government's commitment to ensuring the sustainability of the SATA Group, protecting its mission of territorial cohesion and continuity, as well as promoting the competitiveness of the regional aviation sector.

The Government of the Azores reiterates its commitment to working with transparency and determination to ensure that the Restructuring Plan is fully implemented, while looking after the interests of the Autonomous Region of the Azores and all its citizens.
