Regional Government congratulates Azorean athlete Ana Filipe on titles won at VIRTUS World Championships - Communication

The Azorean Government, through the Regional Secretary responsible for Sport, Sofia Ribeiro, congratulates Azorean athlete Ana Filipe, from the Christian Youth Association Sports Club, for her outstanding performance at the VIRTUS World Championships, where she was distinguished as the best female athlete in the competition.

Ana Filipe won three gold medals in the 100-metre hurdles, high jump and triple jump, as well as a silver medal in the long jump, standing out among the best athletes in the world.

“It is with great pride and admiration that we celebrate this extraordinary achievement. Ana Filipe is an example of dedication, talent and perseverance, which fills all Azoreans with pride and raises the name of the Azores on the international sporting scene,” emphasised Sofia Ribeiro.

The government official also highlighted the decisive role played by the Christian Youth Association Sports Club as well as the technical and ethical work carried out by coach Ana Paula Costa, whose dedication and competence have been fundamental to the athlete's successful career.

This result highlights the prestige of Azorean sport worldwide and demonstrates the commitment of its athletes, coaches, and clubs to promoting talent, inclusion, and sporting excellence.
