The Regional Government, through the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Food, has awarded a contract for the creation and development of advertising and awareness campaigns, including the media plan and respective inserts to be used in the campaign, with a view to implementing measures to detect and eliminate rodents as early as possible.

The Directorate of Agriculture Services is responsible for promoting awareness-raising actions on integrated rodent control. This initiative arises from the need to warn that rodent control is everyone's responsibility. It is an environmental and public health problem that must be controlled in a concerted and coordinated manner between all organisations.

The campaign is structured in two components: the first, for the general public, using social media, TV spots and radio spots as distribution channels, with short and objective messages in a "Question-Answer" format, adopting a straightforward message that is accessible to the entire population, regardless of age, geographical location or social status.

The answers, which include good practices to follow and recommendations, will be short, straightforward, and common to everyone's daily life. For more specific information, a QR code will link citizens to the existing technical brochure.

The campaign's title will be "How to avoid unwanted visits?" - The campaign's signature will be the popular saying "prevention is better than cure," emphasising the importance of prevention without neglecting the need to remedy whenever necessary.

For António Ventura, Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Food, this campaign "is the first action to combat rodents," followed by other coordinated rodent extermination actions in the field with agricultural associations, municipal councils and other entities.

"In the proposed Plan and Budget for 2025, we have an exclusive action to combat pests, which has been greatly reinforced financially," he emphasised.
