The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Mobility and Infrastructures, Berta Cabral, emphasised that the "strategies to promote road safety in the Azores are a priority in the work carried out by the Regional Government."

The government official spoke in the context of the presentation ceremony of the "Make Safety Your Priority" campaign, which was launched in Ponta Delgada in close partnership with the Azorean Road Prevention (PRA).

The campaign is primarily aimed at promoting and informing citizens of the need for good practices on the points-based driving licence, which, according to her, must be "constantly reinforced by raising awareness of the need to comply with the rules in force, for the sake of everyone's safety."

The campaign, which will be broadcast in audiovisual spots and on posters, focuses on drunk driving, using mobile phones while driving, speeding, STOP signs and crossing continuous lines.

At the same time, the Regional Government and PRA are continuously working with regional car rentals to provide information on the current highway code to tourists visiting the Azores.

According to Berta Cabral, "with this approach, which is expected to be increasingly fruitful, we are improving everyone's safety, and contributing to better prepared and skilled drivers in terms of mobility on regional roads."

The campaigns organised by PRA are supported by the Regional Government and privileged partners such as the insurance company Açoriana de Seguros, a sponsor, and more recently, by Euroscut (road concessionaire).
