José Manuel Bolieiro met with Board of Directors of MUSAMI - Communication

The President of the Regional Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, accompanied by the Regional Secretary for the Environment and Climate Action, Alonso Miguel, received the Board of Directors of MUSAMI - Operações Municipais do Ambiente EIM SA at an audience held today.

The meeting was mainly intended to present the "São Miguel Eco-park" project, a crucial initiative for waste management and environmental promotion in the Region.

During the meeting, the possibility of securing non-repayable financing through EU funds was discussed, a measure intended to boost the eco-park project.

The "São Miguel Island Eco-park" is designed to be a centre of excellence in waste reduction procedures, multimaterial recovery through recycling, organic recovery through composting, energy recovery and safe disposal of the remaining waste in technical confinement cells or landfills.

José Manuel Bolieiro stressed the importance of the project for the sustainable development of the Region and the preservation of the environment, stating that "this eco-park is fundamental for the efficient management of waste and the promotion of a circular economy in the Azores."

The meeting ended with a joint commitment to continue working in favour of this project, strengthening collaboration between the Regional Government and MUSAMI.
