It is with deep sadness that the Government of the Azores, represented by the President of the Government, José Manuel Bolieiro, mourns the death of Mário Serafim da Silva Machado, Mayor of the Covoada Parish Council, elected in 2017, in the municipality of Ponta Delgada.

Mário Serafim da Silva Machado was an exemplary citizen, known for his kindness, integrity and tireless dedication. His active participation in public life demonstrated his commitment to collective well-being and progress. He was a charismatic figure, whose actions reflected a profound attachment to and knowledge of his parish and its residents. 

At this time of pain and loss, the Government of the Azores offers its most sincere condolences to his family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with Mário Serafim da Silva Machado. May they find strength and comfort in the memories and legacy left by this remarkable human being.
